Neck and upper back pain

Neck Pain & Shoulder Blade Pain

I often find in practice that neck pain is quite rare. Stiffness and tension in the neck is common but actual pain is normally a late symptom. Often neck problems have associated or present only as referred pain into the shoulder blades.

Upper back and shoulder blade pain is common. This is a sign that the joints and nerves in your neck are an issue.

I have been told by so many patients that their upper back pain is so severe it’s debilitating and there is no neck pain.

This is simply because your neck stabilising muscles attach to the vertebra and ribs right behind your shoulder blade.

When your neck is stiff and sore and you trap a nerve, with swelling, it spasms the upper back muscles. This causes severe pressure on the attachment behind your shoulder blade, the pain in the upper back is then all you can feel.

Being experienced and always looking for the root cause is why The Back Clinic is so popular. We will make sure we know exactly what is causing your pain before we treat you.

We will assess your entire spine and find the exact area that is causing the issue.

We can treat nerve pain, disc bulges and many muscle and joint problems.

To help find the cause we offer:

  • A Private Consultation with the Doctor of Chiropractic
  • A Thorough Examination including Neurological, Orthopaedic & Blood Pressure Tests
  • X-Rays, if necessary
  • A Verbal Report of our Findings and thorough Explanation of the X-Rays

After which you should know more about your body and the problems you are experiencing than you ever have before. Whether you go ahead with treatment, as always, is entirely your decision
